Gold and black together is one of my favorite color combos - most definitely because they are the colors of my Alma Mater :) OMG it's so crazy to call it that! 

I wore this outfit to work yesterday in an effort to stay comfortable but also professional. Bubble skirts can be fun, but also tricky. They're either very flattering or very...not. One thing I look for is a wider waist band. This creates a defined waist so that your actual waist doesn't get lost in the bubble of the skirt. Waist bands that are about 1 inch in height are what I typically shoot for. I originally wore a black Clare cardigan from J.Crew Factory with my outfit, but it was so hot yesterday afternoon I had to ditch it to take photos! Finally a sunny day!

Clearly I can't get enough of stripes... I wore this outfit to dinner and drinks with my family and friends to celebrate my birthday last weekend. Lately I have been loving silk shorts. They are so incredibly comfortable!! I've owned this pair for 4 years and I'm so happy they're trending again. Silk shorts are paired perfectly with silk blouses and light sweaters, making them so versatile. I love wearing them with a slight wedge or comfortable flats to create an easy, effortless look to wear out on a hot summer night. Summers are definitely for effortless style in my opinion!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend. It rained almost all weekend here, so I used the opportunity to pull out my new rain boots! These shots were taken during a (maybe) 10-minute break in the rain, so thanks to my mom for flying out the door with me once the rain stopped!

Also, how adorable is this monogrammed bag from Things Remembered? It's been the perfect bag to bring to work, and there is never a shot of it being mistaken for someone else's with the cute monogram.
