2017 Year in Review
Hello, 2018! It's been nearly two years since my last blog post, and life has changed dramatically since 2016. When I actually write it down... almost two years since I last wrote on Stylin' Iowan... it certainly sounds like a long time, and it has been! Seriously, SO MUCH has changed since I last wrote a blog post.
So where do I begin? I'll start from when you last heard from me. In May 2016 I made one of the hardest career decisions I've ever made. I decided to leave my job in events and marketing to try something different, and by different I mean.... different. Although I loved my job, I decided to pursue a new dream in the financial services industry. Like I said... different! When the opportunity was presented to take this new position, I was honestly scared. Going in a totally different direction (career wise) was exciting, however I knew more than anything that success was not guaranteed. I prayed for guidance, and what I found was that although I was put-off by the unknown, I knew God was asking me to trust in Him and take this leap of faith, even if it felt like I was taking a harder, tougher road. Almost two years later, I'm glad I trusted in Him.
Since then, it's been a whirlwind of learning, growth, rejection and earned trust. I studied many hours to receive various licenses, and it was the most rewarding task I've ever completed. I was also awarded the Young Professional of the Year award in my region (that was a huge shock!). It's been a crazy ride so far, and I've also had a little bit of fun tackling the challenge of a new business-professional wardrobe :)

2017 brought a lot of new changes too! A new apartment, new friends and a new boyfriend! Although there's been a lot of "new" around here, I never really forgot about my little blog. The more time went by, the more I realized there was content that even I, the obsessive blog reader, was still not seeing, and that maybe others felt that too. To those of you who have reached out to me about when or if I would start blogging again, I appreciate your support and well wishes. I'm excited to interact with readers again and to talk about topics, including fashion, beauty, decor and more, that I hope are useful and inspiring. I have big goals for myself and this space, and I appreciate you all who have supported me through everything.
See you soon, on January 15th to be exact!

Summer Skirt...
Tank: Topshop | Skirt: J.Crew Factory | Pumps: J.Crew Factory | Bag: J.Crew, similar | Necklace: Kate Spade | Bracelet: Kate Spade | Lipstick: MAC - Creme Cup with Bare Minerals gloss on top
Now that the weekend is over, my life is a little more normal again. Last week I was coordinating a week-long event and then had a bachelorette party over the weekend. I could definitely use a nap, but it was so much fun! If you were following along on snapchat (@libbyglaser), you probably got a glimpse of my outfit and hair (more on my hair later - stay tuned!). I wore this skirt with a white off the shoulder top and it added the right amount of class to a fun weekend look. It would really work well for most settings, whether it be casual, a party, church, etc. Also can we talk about my Topshop tank??!! Insert heart-eyed emoji. It comes in so many colors, and its under $30!

Fuchsia lace...
Dress: Mint LA Boutique, similar and love this | Heels: Nordstrom, similar and similar | Bag: J.Crew, similar and similar under $100 | Necklace: Kate Spade | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: Kate Spade, Alex and Ani, J.Crew Factory | Earrings: J.Crew Factory
One of my new year's resolutions (remember those?) was to wear more color, and this dress from Mint La Boutique is definitely BRIGHT and colorful! I love the feminine lace detail and the color is one of my favorite shades of pink. The open back is also super flattering and adds a little spice to such a sweet dress. This look would be perfect for a bachelorette party or a girl's night out! You can order this dress from Mint LA Boutique but I've linked two options that have more conservative hemlines below!
In other news, I'm gearing up for a fun week of event coordinating starting Saturday. You could say my stress levels are steadily climbing...but I love all the excitement before event days :) A few of the events include an outdoor concert for 3,000 people, a cocktail party at a classic car museum, and coordinating day-to-day activities for 32 amazing college students. You can follow along on my snapchat @libbyglaser for daily updates and behind the scenes action!

Multi-Season Hats (for under $20)...
Tank: Francesca's, similar & similar version under $30! | Denim: 7FAM | Pumps: BCBG (under $70!) | Hat: Nordstrom | Bag: Tory Burch, similar under $100 | Sunnies: Ray-Ban | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: Kate Spade, J.Crew Factory, Alex & Ani | Necklace: Kate Spade | Lipstick: MAC - Creme Cup (totally melted off... darn humidity!)
I'm not going to lie, it took me awhile to warm up to buying one of these hats. I've been lusting over wide-brimmed hats since last fall, but truth be told, I think I've attended too many Kentucky Derby-themed sorority parties in one's lifetime that I was semi terrified I'd look like a southern belle wanna-be. :/ Not kidding, I have pictures from sophomore year of college at a derby party wearing a really bad white hat and a much too orange spray tan. I wish I could chalk it up to being loyally in character, but the whole look was just in (very) poor taste. Fast forward almost 4 years and I've faced my fears of wide-brimmed hats with relief and a little regret that I didn't try this trend sooner! This hat has quickly become a weekend staple item in my wardrobe, especially during the hot summer months when my roots tend to get greasy due to the humidity! It's a great quick fix for bad hair days :) There's quite a few similar hats at great price points available, which is always nice when trying a new trend! Mine is under $20 and available in three colors, and I've linked some more similar hats under $50 below!
Have a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by...

Dress: J.Crew | Pumps: J.Crew Factory | Clutch: J.Crew, love this & this under $50 option | Earrings: Kendra Scott (small), the size I'm wearing here | Necklace: Kate Spade | Bracelets: Alex & Ani, Kate Spade, J.Crew Factory | Lipstick: MAC - Creme Cup
Excuse me while I do a happy dance because my laptop is finally back in my possession!!!!!
You're probably wondering how I lost it, and no I didn't lose it myself but TSA did and I'm thrilled to have it back because I thought for sure it was a goner. So if you've been following me on Instagram you know that I've been traveling for work the last few days. When I was packing for the trip, I decided my Tory Burch tote was large enough to carry all my necessities and that I wouldn't need a carry on if I put my laptop in my checked bag. Well somehow during my layover and connecting flight my luggage got misplaced in the Chicago airport :( I arrived in Dayton, OH with literally nothing besides the clothes on my back, my purse and a half empty bag of almonds :/ This has never happened to me before, and I was traveling alone, so you can imagine I was a little frazzled! I went to baggage claim and they had no idea where it was but knew it was somewhere in Chicago, and I was told it would make it on the next flight. Well I think it took a little more searching than that because my luggage didn't make it to my hotel until 6pm the next day and by that time all my meetings were over so I didn't even need it anymore! Long story short, I'm never putting my laptop in my luggage again just in case my luggage does get lost! I think the only good thing about it was that I had a legitimate excuse to raid Target for new work dresses and pajamas! :)
Ok on to the outfit... this J.Crew dress is not only comfortable and cute, but it's so different than any other shift dress I've owned. I love the extended sleeve that's a different pattern and texture than the rest of the dress - it definitely helps make the dress interesting and stand out from the rest. Also the angled zippers on the front...yes. They add just the right amount of edge to such a classy shape of dress. PS it's on SALE!! For sizing, it does run BIG. I ordered a small and it's almost too big on my size 6 frame.
Have a fabulous Thursday! Thanks for reading.

So one of my blogger friends did a post where she shared 20 interesting facts you probably didn't know about her, and I'm realizing that many of you, whether a new or longtime blog reader, probably don't know a lot about me! I love reading emails/comments from readers and getting to know about all of you, so I've decided to list 10 random things about myself and hopefully by the end of this article you'll know a little more about who I am and won't be totally bored or annoyed!! :/
1. My name is actually Elizabeth - Libby is not a middle name or a family name, just the name I go by!
2. I have one sister, Emily, and although we look alike, we literally have opposite features! She's blonde, I'm brunette; she's tall, I'm on the shorter side; she has green eyes, mine are blue. However if you put the two of us in the same room, you'll know instantly that we're sisters - our mannerisms and the way we talk are almost identical!
3. When it comes to black coffee, I prefer Dunkin Donuts. If I want a latte, Starbucks is my jam. When hot chocolate or tea is a necessity, dear God please let there be a Caribou Coffee nearby!
4. I played soccer competitively from ages nine - 17 and have won the state championship four different times. I played in regional competitions in front of college scouts almost every weekend growing up, but I was never going to be fast or tall enough to play Division 1, and frankly my love of playing soccer faded in high school, but I'm a HUGE U.S. Soccer fan. I would probably cry if someone brought me to a U.S. Soccer match (men or women's team!).
5. Yellow, orange and lime green nail polish really weird me out... on others it looks really cool, but for some reason it's just a "no" for me!
6. I've never traveled out of the country before! I actually never had the desire until recently, so I'm gathering a list of places I want to see. I have cousins who live in Japan, so right now that is on the top of my list!
7. I will be cheering for all three Iowa college teams (Iowa, Iowa State and Northern Iowa) in the NCAA tournament. I just love the craziness of March Madness and want all of them to win!
8. I hate black licorice. I know, random, but really, who does?? I don't understand how anyone thinks that stuff is appetizing... OK sorry, I just had to get that off my chest! Ha!
9. The town I live in has a population of 3,000 people, and there is very limited shopping here. You can only imagine the amount of restraint needed when online shopping...
10. I have never been in love, although I definitely thought I was not too long ago! It's funny how you can be so sure of yourself but then God waves His hand and says, "I've got something else in mind." Although difficult at times, I'm looking forward to that "something else".

Can anyone guess where today's post title came from?? Enter Britney Spears pre-Kevin Federline circa 1999!!! But really, the song-inspired post title seemed only fitting after wearing these clover earrings for St. Patricks Day! I'm not the type to dress up in all green for this particular holiday, but I like the subtleness of my earrings, and I know I'll wear them more than just once this year.
I have to say, this sweater is turning into my newest favorite! The deep-v neckline really gives the sweater a pretty shape and it's not too heavy or chunky looking. I got this sweater in white/black so I can pair it with different colored denim and pants. PS - it's under $20! SCORE!
Speaking of St. Patricks Day celebrations, I hope everyone's weekend was fun and safe! I spent the weekend in Des Moines with my friends from college - some of them I hadn't seen in over 6 months! We celebrated our friend's bachelorette (she's the first to get married!), and if you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (libbyglaser), you probably got a glimpse into our festivities... :)
Have a great Monday!

It feels so good to be back to blogging! Since last Friday, I have been to Madison, WI then back home then to Des Moines and back home again - a total of 19 hours in the car. That may not seem like a huge feat to many, but I'm a little exhausted and also totally out of my normal routine. I've never wanted to clean my apartment so badly! Both trips were definitely worth the drives though - I was in Madison for my friend's bachelorette weekend and was in Des Moines visiting the state capitol discussing young professionals' interests with state legislators. They were definitely a crazy couple days but also extremely exciting for various reasons. I posted updates throughout my road trips on my Snapchat account and decided to make it public for my blog readers - you can follow me at @libbyglaser for my daily updates and I promise to snap you back!
Anyways, I'm loving the new spring weather and with spring comes lighter hues, including pastels! My new jacket from Forever 21 is so easy to layer with sweaters, and the faux-suede gives just enough warmth to be a nice transition piece while the air still has a little chill. I love that it's an open jacket - it gives off a more casual feel than all my other winter coats! It would also be cute with a simple cotton dress and wedges for a warmer night on the town. I can't wait to start wearing spring dresses again - my poor legs need some color!!!
Have a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by :)

Confession: I have never been a fan of the flannel-tied-around-your-waist look. Do you all know what I'm talking about?? I can't really put a finger on it, but it's just not for me. Then I wore the above look in a very hot bar on a Saturday night and I quickly realized why this might be on-trend... I do love the playfulness of tying a cardigan, jacket, etc. around your waist! It definitely transformed this look into another that, in my opinion, is quite different! What really stands out though are the pops of bright color in my accessories and makeup. Super bright lip shades, like Candy Yum Yum, are a fun way to add some spice, but I try to keep them more for weekends or after work occasions!
Have a great Wednesday! We're halfway there - woohoo!
