Craving Fall..

Shirt: TJ Maxx, similar here and here | Shorts: J.Crew Factory | Belt: Target, similar here | Wedges: Maurices, similar here and love these | Purse: Forever 21, similar here | Watch: Michael Kors| Necklace: J.Crew Factory | Sunnies: Target | Lips: MAC Lipglass - Pink Nouveau

I'll take any excuse to wear one of my fall favorites in the summer! Gingham is a great print to wear year round, and it just so happens to pair well with my fun denim shorts from J. Crew Factory! I've also paired these shorts with a leopard print sweater, giving a nod towards one of my favorite color combos: green and leopard print. Yes, leopard IS a color - or at least it should be :)

Have a  great day! Thanks for reading.

Rainbow + Poshmark

Skirt: Target, on sale on my Poshmark! | Top: Francesca's, similar here and here | Blazer: Apricot Lane, similar here | Sandals: Nine West, similar here and here | Necklace: J.Crew Factory | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: old, similar here | Sunnies: Target, lusting for these | Nails: Essie - Blanc | Lips: Este Lauder - Blushing

One of my "goals" for this year has been to wear more color... Scoff all you want, but ask anyone that knows me and they'll tell you I have a tendency to wear all black. At first it was actually hard - black goes so well with everything! But now, I'm finding that I love wearing different colors and now have an obsession with finding really unique color combinations. When I found this skirt at Target, I was genuinely surprised that I loved it, but I think it's because the colors are so bright and the print is a little unexpected! Plus, there are hints of black in the skirt soooooo this might just be my perfect compromise!

I had a hard time finding this skirt on Target's website, but I've actually decided to sell it on my Poshmark. If you haven't heard of Poshmark, I highly recommend you check it out! Poshmark is a great app for your phone and tablet where you can sell your "loved" clothing that you no longer have a need for. I've already sold so many items from my closet and it's a great way to bargain shop for items you can't find online or in stores anymore.

Have a great weekend! Thanks for reading :)

Tangerine..

Tank: Francesca's, similar here | Sweater: Portobello Road, loving this | Shorts: Old Navy, similar here | Sandals: Target, loving these | Necklace: J.Crew Factory | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: gigglosophy, old - similar here | Ring: gigglosophySunnies: Amazon, Prada's here | Lips: YSL Rouge Volupte #7 | Phone Case: J.Crew Factory, loving this

Tangerine and grey are an unexpected color combination that's really trending right now. I've never really worn tangerine, so this is my first shot at it! My slouchy cardigan from Portobello Road has also been on repeat lately. This sweater has been easy to pair with boyfriend shorts and also lightweight silk dresses for chilly nights. It was an impulse buy this winter that I am definitely not regretting!

Lately I've been veeeery busy with my work / weekend schedule that I haven't had the opportunity to go back to Iowa City and see friends! Thankfully I've met so many awesome people my age in NW Iowa and have definitely been enjoying my time here! One thing I've been loving about being out of college is that I have more time to devote to blogging. I look back on college and realize I was sometimes too hard on myself for not blogging at least 4x/week, however now I can appreciate the time and effort I put into my blog and I've been excited to see my readership grow already since graduating. Thanks to all of you who come back to see every post and catch up on my life - you have no idea how much it means to me!

I'm still on a high from last night's game! In case you're not a soccer fan, the USA men's national soccer team is competing in the World Cup this month, and last night they defeated Ghana 2-1 in the last 5 minutes. Unfortunately for me, NW Iowa had awful storms, so I was without power for the game (and all night until 2am this morning). So what does a die-hard soccer fan do in these circumstances? Sit in her car during a lightening storm and listen to the game via XM satellite radio. Whatever it takes, right?

This post was also supposed to go up yesterday, however the bad weather kept me from posting. Hopefully we'll have no more bad weather and my blogging schedule goes back to normal!

Have a great day! Thanks so much for reading.

Light Blue...

Top: J.Crew Factory | Pants: Calvin Klein, similar here | Belt: J.Crew Factory | Pumps: J.Crew Factory, similar here and here | Purse: Target | Sunnies: House of Harlow, $5 version hereEarrings: Vince Camuto, similar here (only $4!!) | Bracelet: old, similar here | Lips: YSL Rouge Volupte #7 | Nails: Essie - Forever Yummy

You know when you buy something thinking it will be different when you get it in the mail??? Well that's kind of the story with this blouse. As you all can probably tell, I have a slight obsession with J.Crew Factory. When I bought this blouse, I didn't hesitate with my size thinking I knew what to get, but when the blouse came in the mail, it was totally different than what I was expecting. I guess I thought this shirt would be more like the material of a chambray?? Anyways, I think I bought it one size too big, but I'm embracing the over sized look to it. I haven't seen many silky over-sized popovers out in stores, but I actually like that this shirt isn't in the least bit fitted. Cheers to making the best of it...and being too lazy to return it :)
Have a great day!

PS: I've had a lot of questions about this purse and where I got it. Although its from Target and at a great price point ($22!), the metal clasp broke after only a couple uses!

Today I'm featuring my sister, Emily on the blog! She is a high school band teacher in the Kansas City area, and she also has great style! I love how she really played up the nautical vibes from her J.Crew Factory shorts, along with a subdued pop of red on her lips! Lately, shades of blues and navy have been really catching my eye, and I love the combination of both mint and navy blue in Emily's outfit. What colors are you gravitating towards this summer?

Have a great day! Thanks for reading!

Violet...

Dress: J.Crew Factory | Clutch: BCBGMaxaria, similar here | Necklace: J.Crew, similar herehere and here | Bracelet: old, similar here | Pumps: C. Wonder, similar here | Nails: Essie - Forever Yummy

Good morning! How was everyone's weekend?? I spent the weekend with family and friends.. pretty low key. I've been enjoying chill nights lately because I'm still adjusting to working full time, however I'm loving my job!

I wore this dress to my college graduation and am just getting around to putting it up on the blog. I love dresses with a cinched waist - it creates a pretty silhouette and it makes it easier to belt if you wish. This fun violet color is perfect for the spring and summer months! Also, how adorable are these C. Wonder heels?? They're soooo comfortable! I can barely walk in heels that are over 4 inches, and these are perfect at 2 3/4 inches.

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by :)

Paisley..

Dress: J.Crew, similar here, here and here | Pumps: J.Crew Factory | Sunnies: Ray-Ban | Clutch: The Limited, similar here | Earrings: unknown, similar here | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: gigglosophy, kate spade | Ring: gigglosophy | Lips: Estee Lauder in Blushing

TGIF! I love wearing all different kinds of prints because they can usually be paired with most colors, however paisley is one that should really stand alone. Paisley is not typically my favorite print, however I made an exception with this dress. The navy and gold details in the pattern are stunning, and the A-line style with pleating in the skirt creates a beautiful silhouette. I've worn this dress to church and weddings many times, and it always seems to be an eye catcher! I've linked a couple paisley dress options above that I also adore!!

This weekend I have family in town, so I'm excited to spend some time with them. Hopefully I can catch a few rays outside too, but we'll see if this weather holds up. Since moving to NW Iowa, I've been living in my parents place temporarily, so my next weekend project is finding an apartment! Let the searching begin! :)

Golden..

Tank: J.Crew Factory | Skirt: Francesca's, really old, similar here and love this | Wedges: Michael Kors, similar and similar | Wallet: kate spade | Sunnies: House of Harlow | Necklace: Charming Charlie | Watch: Michael Kors, 25% OFF!! | Bracelets: kate spade, gigglosophy | Lips: Revlon Colorburst "Strawberry Fraise"

Gold and black together is one of my favorite color combos - most definitely because they are the colors of my Alma Mater :) OMG it's so crazy to call it that!

I wore this outfit to work yesterday in an effort to stay comfortable but also professional. Bubble skirts can be fun, but also tricky. They're either very flattering or very...not. One thing I look for is a wider waist band. This creates a defined waist so that your actual waist doesn't get lost in the bubble of the skirt. Waist bands that are about 1 inch in height are what I typically shoot for. I originally wore a black Clare cardigan from J.Crew Factory with my outfit, but it was so hot yesterday afternoon I had to ditch it to take photos! Finally a sunny day!
