A life update is waaaaay overdue! If you're just newly following, then you may not know that I recently moved to Des Moines in September! I am SO excited to be back in my hometown, be closer to family and also work for the family business.
This decision didn't come lightly, however being in Des Moines was ultimately the long-term goal. Des Moines is where I grew up and I have so many amazing memories here, and being closer to family is definitely a treat. If you're a longtime reader, you know that I'm very close to my parents (my mom even takes my blog pictures!), and since moving back I had the pleasure of living in their home until I found a new place. I never thought I'd move back in with my parents after college (even if it is temporary), however it made the move so much more easy and fun! My sister Emily and brother-in-law Zach live in Kansas City which is only three hours away, so I'm excited to hopefully see them more as well. They recently got a new puppy Max, so seeing him often is a must!
Moving to a new place (even if it is my hometown) was an adjustment in the beginning, but city life is treating me pretty well so far! I've enjoyed rekindling old friendships and exploring new neighborhoods that I never knew existed. And since this is a fashion blog, I have to admit that the shopping doesn't suck either! Ha!
Nate and I decided to make this move together, which has been such a blessing. Nate is moving to Des Moines this weekend, so we've been doing the long distance thing for a couple months, and all I can say is wow...long distance was much harder than what we'd anticipated! I don't know how some couples do that for long periods of time. Now that he's here in Des Moines about to start his new job, the move seems much more real!
Although we are feeling at home in Des Moines, we both really miss northwest Iowa. The Iowa Great Lakes is truly my favorite place in the world and I can't help but feel pretty darn lucky to have lived there for the last four years for me, and the last twenty for Nate! Now that I'm writing this down, I can't believe I lived there for four years! So crazy! I moved to northwest Iowa for my first job out of college and it was honestly the perfect place for me at that stage of life. I met so many great friends (and Nate, obviously!), while also starting two great careers and navigating the transition from "college life" to "young professional life". Nate's family is mostly in northwest Iowa, so we will travel there often to visit. My parents also have a residence there so we won't ever be too far away, which is nice.
As always, thanks for reading my little space on the internet! Until next time...
Libby
So many exciting things! I totally get the long distance thing-my bf and I did it while he was in Des Moines and then moved to be by me in Denver! It's always a testament to a relationship when not even distance can keep you apart!

It was definitely hard being apart for awhile, but we managed it well. Plus it makes being back together in the same city so much more sweet! Thanks for your well wishes, Caitlin! xo, Libby
